What does homebirth midwifery care look like?
Prenatal Care
With each prenatal you are provided with individualized and holistic care. Prenatals offer us time to monitor you and your baby's health while addressing any questions or concerns you may have.
Each appointment is scheduled for an hour so you never feel rushed.
After the initial visit prenatal appointments are scheduled:
·Every 4 weeks until 28-30 weeks
·Every 2 or 3 weeks until 36 weeks
·Every week from 36 weeks until birth
Labor & Birth
Once you are 37 weeks I will be on-call to attend your birth. During your labor I will be monitoring both you and your baby’s vitals, continually evaluating and ensuring everything is progressing and within normal limits. I carry equipment such as dopplers, blood pressure cuff, pulse ox, and suturing supplies as well as medications such as oxygen, hemorrhage control medications and IV supplies.
I will be there to catch your baby or help you catch your baby. After welcoming your baby I will stay several hours to continue to monitor you and your baby.
Postpartum Care
Postpartum is a time of integration and healing. Integrating new life to outside the womb and healing your body, mentally, emotionally and physically. I will continue to monitor both you and the baby for 6 weeks. Your first three visits will be in your home with the remainder in office. I offer newborn metabolic screening, hearing screening and CCHD screening, if desired.
